I own an old apartment that I purchased from a relative. Since the building is over 30 years old, it requires ongoing renovations. As an example, I have combined two rooms into one to create more usable space for tenants. The completed renovation is shown in the attached image.

The most frustrating aspect of renovation projects is managing the work and expenses, especially for small jobs with low project values. It’s challenging to find professional contractors for such projects, and often, one ends up with individual handymen who lack expertise in all aspects of the work.

Pricing is another issue, as small contractors often avoid written quotes, favoring verbal estimates instead. This lack of a detailed bill of quantities (BOQ) prevents clients from properly scrutinizing the pricing.

Judging from the sample photos, the contractor’s work output doesn’t quite meet my expectations for the price I paid.
